LUNGWORM AND TICKS
NEW RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ALL DOGS AT ASHMAN JONES
We have been seeing a very large increase with problems associated with both Lungworm and Ticks at both our practices in Bath. We also know that there are some diseases such as Canine Babesiosis that will be with us in only a matter of time as we already have the Tick which transmits the infection in the Bath area .
For this reason we have recently revised and upgraded our Preventative Treatments Policy for Dogs at Ashman Jones Vets.
This is to allow for better and more consistent protection for Dogs against Lungworm and Ticks in Bath.
NEW PROTOCOL FOR DOGS:
Our recommendation is that all dogs receive monthly preventive medication for Ticks as well as monthly preventative medication for Lungworm. In most cases a monthly tablet is now the most effective way for owners as follows:
Ticks and Fleas : Monthly Simparica* Tablet
Lungworm ( and other worms ) : Monthly Milprazon Tablet
Both of these tablets are included in our Best Friends club at no extra charge
*There are other options for Tick and Flea prevention such as spot-ons and collars and 3 monthly tablets but we have decided to choose Simparica based on ability to provide the best ongoing protection. Please speak to our team if you need any more info.
Our protocol for Cats remains unchanged. If your cat has ticks, then the most effective way to prevent them is to use a Seresto Collar which we keep in stock at both practices.
